On my office wall hangs an inspiring picture with the word “Character” inscribed. What crosses your mind when you think of this word? You may have heard it said that "Character is what you do when nobody is watching, or character is deciding beforehand that you are going to do the right thing.” Both statements do speak to the character of a person and can be useful when trying to explain what character looks like.
It is important that we understand that character is not what you or I claim to personally have, it is what others say of us. Character counts because we are faced with decisions on a daily basis, and people count on you to always make the right decision - all the time. The Reverend Billy Graham sums it up this way, “When character is lost – all is lost.”
As you purpose in your heart to do the right thing, be confident and assured that any positive investment to your personal character will always produce a great return. Staying true to your core values will enable you to be a person of true character, one who is honored first by God and then entrusted by men.
